MEET LOEKE, SANDER and MARTINE – In the last couple of months, a number of people have joined our crew. For you to get to know them a bit, we asked them to answer questions about their motto, their fave place in Amsterdam, how they kickstart their workweek and to dispose their guilty pleasure.
Find their answers below and get to know our new Researcher Loeke, Junior Account Manager Sander and Project Manager Martine.
We have our motto “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit” (by Harry S. Truman) written on our office wall. What motto do you live by that you would like to share with us?
Loeke: “A motto to live by in life and career to me is: “When the going gets tough, the tough gets going”. I actually stole this one from my dad, who has also credited it as his motto. But it’s a powerful saying that encompasses everything I also believe is important. Because, I have found that in whatever I do with a passion, whenever it gets tough, I keep believing in what others might deem impossible and thus what might make others quit. And if I am one thing, it’s that I am nót one to quit. An honorable mention for “Say what you mean and mean what you say”, though. For obvious reasons.”
Sander: “Give the world the best you have, and the best wil come to you“.
Martine: “Give people what they expect but do it in an unexpected way.“
What is your favourite place in Amsterdam?
Loeke: “I must admit it is hard to pick one favourite spot. There’s lots to discover still, but if I had to choose this very second I’d say Casa di David (Italian restaurant at Singel 426). They used to have a restaurant in my hometown, Utrecht, as well. My family and I went there lots of times, whenever there was a special occasion, like a birthday, or just because we felt like eating really good Italian food. Long story short: we go way back!”
Sander: “My favorite place to go to is Singel 404. Amazing milkshakes you got there! Love them… And during the summer, I really like to cruise on the canals of Amsterdam with friends!“
Martine: “My favourite place to go is Anne&Max, my home away from home. The perfect place to wake up or wind down while enjoying a freshly brewed Bocca coffee. There is always an excuse to spoil yourself; so don’t leave without trying their home-made carrot cake!”
Working at KONINGS & KEUNE, you cannot escape our contagious love for the Monday morning. What is your secret to kickstart your week full of positivity?
Loeke: “I don’t really have a routine to start off my week. The Monday Morning Breakfast, to me, has been a great way to get inspired by people or subjects you maybe wouldn’t have looked for or found yourself. But, on a weekly basis, having seen or done something inspiring during the weekend and then start working on cool and interesting projects again on Monday should be enough to get me going ;)”
Sander: “Closing the weekend with winning a hockey game and celebrating this with friends and family. The defeat gives me the positive energy to get up on Monday morning and conquer the week! It’s also my kickstart to continue improving myself to be full of positivity“
Martine: “Enjoy life at its fullest while spending quality time with friends and family during the weekend and concur the week. It is true what they say; The best way to make your dreams come true is by waking up!“
What is your guilty pleasure that we are probably going to find out soon anyway?
Loeke: “I have a (not so secret) crush on André Hazes Junior. And, I love lip synching to all the worst songs, preferably as 90s/00s as possible. Think Whitney Houston, the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, R. Kelly, 50 Cent and many (many many) more..”
Sander: “Getting take-away food for dinner while I literally live next to a supermarket! Shame on me!”
Martine: “Champagne rules but a champagne breakfast in bed ROCKS!”
